V27-1229 : REFUSE COLLECTION - BULKY HOUSEHOLD COLLECTIONS

The report of the Director of Community Services set out the charges over the past five years for the collection of bulky household items. An analysis of the Service found that a subsidised level of charging could be of best overall benefit, with a review later in the year to control any impact on budgets if the demand for the service increased.

However, members felt the contract rate of £15.96 including VAT should be charged. They also asked that the Director, when writing to the County Council regarding the previous item, suggest a publicity campaign appraising the public and businesses of the services available for refuse collection.

RESOLVED

That a charge of £15.96 be made for collection of bulky household waste from 1 April 2000.
