V27-122 : GAS SERVICING AND INSTALLATION CONTRACT

The report of the Director of Housing and Environmental Services reminded members that the Council's current Domestic Gas Servicing Contract was due for renewal in June 1999 and the Gas Installation Contract in September 1999

The Director was concerned that should the existing contractor not retain the Gas Installation Contract, the Council's ability to achieve its target in the millennium project of all properties having full or partial central heating would be severely hampered. It was therefore proposed that the contract be extended for one year to September 2000.

Additionally, it was proposed to extend the Gas Servicing Contract for an extra period of three months to September 1999 when it would be re-let as a one year contract. The intention was then to combine the servicing contract and installation contract to be let as one contract from September 2000.

RESOLVED

1. That, in accordance with Standing Order 6.13, the Domestic Gas Central Heating Installation Contract be extended by one year to September 2000 for the reasons detailed in the report of the Director of Housing and Environmental Services.

2. That, in accordance with Standing Order 6.13, the Gas Servicing Contract be extended by three months to September 1999 for the reasons detailed in the report of the Director of Housing and Environmental Services, and subsequently be re-let as a one year contract.
