V27-1209 : SMOKING IN TAXIS

The report of the Chief Executive outlined the content of a consultation document issued by the Department of the Environment, Transport and the Regions asking for the Council's opinion on the need for legislation to control smoking in hackney carriages.

The Chief Executive requested delegated authority to reply to the consultation document and to express the Council's opinion that legislation was required to control smoking in taxis and private hire vehicles.

RESOLVED

That the Chief Executive be given delegated authority to respond to the Department of the Environment, Transport and the Regions' consultation document on smoking in taxis, as detailed in the report of the Chief Executive.

The meeting was concluded at 5.50pm.
