V27-1189 : ADVICE CENTRE, 36 GORDON ROAD, LOWESTOFT - STRUCTURAL PROBLEMS

The report of the Director of Community Services advised that investigations, in collaboration with Fordham Johns Partnership, had been undertaken to determine the root cause of structural problems with the above building. A scheme for underpinning the present foundations had been prepared and the lowest tender was submitted by Carlton Builders for £15,489.00.

Following discussions with the Director of Central Services sufficient funding has been identified within the overall current Other Services Capital Programme.

RESOLVED

That £16,000 be allocated from the current Other Services Capital Programme to permit the underpinning of the foundations to 36 Gordon Road, Lowestoft to proceed, and that the Director of Community Services be instructed to accept the tender from Carlton Builders to executive the works.

(Councillor Hunter declared an interest in the above item and left the room during the debate).
