V27-1129 : OBJECTIVE 5B TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE

The report of the Chief Executive sought to continue sponsorship of the Development Officer post which provided technical assistance to the Objective 5B Secretariat, which would finish at the end of this year. Retaining this post would keep specialist expertise in the region and would help a faster start to the Objective 2 regime.

Discussions had taken place between the partners involved in the Objective 2/5B programmes within the region and there was general support for funding of the post to continue for a year as an interim contract, until the end of 2000. Norfolk County Council would continue as employer of the post.

RECOMMENDED

That a grant of £1,050 for one year be made towards the cost of providing Objective 5B technical assistance for the region within the Government Office for the Eastern Region, to be met from the Initiative and Promotions budget.
