V27-1125 : EAST OF ENGLAND DEVELOPMENT AGENCY STRATEGY

The report of the Chief Executive provided a summary document of the East of England Development Agency's Strategy document which had recently been released.

The Council's comments were forwarded to the Agency as part of that consultation and two of the Council's major points had been addressed so that the lack of uniformity of the region had been acknowledged and the importance of giving greater attention to areas of greatest need was made more prominent. However, there was still no clear identification of these areas within the Strategy or resources identified by which this would be achieved. Also, the Offshore sector was still not identified as a key sector within the region.

RECOMMENDED

That the new East of England Development Agency Strategy be welcomed and that Members be kept informed of progress made towards the aims set out in it.
