Application for provision of floodlighting and erection of a timber shed.

The report of the Director of Planning and Building Control advised that when the above three tennis courts were approved in 1994 it was recognised that there could be a future demand for floodlighting to make maximum use of the facilities. The proposed lighting would consist of eight columns supporting 12 two-kilowatt floodlights. An objection letter had been received from a neighbour concerned that the lighting would extend the hours during which sporting activities caused noise nuisance, and also that the floodlights may cause glare. Calculations submitted with the application suggested that light spillage would be very low.

The Director recommended approval subject to conditions.

RESOLVED

That planning permission be granted to application W15624/2, subject to no use after 10pm and to the floodlights being so arranged that no direct light is received in the adjoining houses.

(Councillor Cracknell declared an interest in the above item and left the room during the debate).
