Application for sea wall repairs.

The report of the Director of Planning and Building Control set out the need for urgent repairs to the sea wall at this point as a recent storm surge had resulted in the steel piled toe of the wall being exposed and fill material being washed out from behind the wall, causing partial collapse.

The repairs involved the replacement of groyne C3 by a new rock structure nine metres wide and the construction of a rock revetment structure against the failed wall. Visual impact was minimal and therefore acceptable, and the Director recommended approval.

RESOLVED

That for the purposes of paragraph 4(5) of the town and Country Planning General Regulations 1976, deemed planning permission be granted to application W17434 subject to no sustainable objections of substance emerging before the expiration of the consultation period.
