V27-1038 : NOISE FROM OUTDOOR ENTERTAINMENTS

The report of the Director of Housing and Environmental Services reminded members that it was agreed in February 1999, as part of the local resolution of an Ombudsman's investigation, to assess the noise impact of the summer events held at the Sparrow's Nest during 1999, and to review policies relating to the control of disturbance from noise from outdoor events.

The report described the results of the exercise, and in consultation with the Director of Community Services, who had overall control of events in the park, outlined changes in the planning of similar events proposed for 2000 to mitigate the effects of noise disturbance. It concluded that no change in noise control or complaint investigation policy for such events was justified.

RESOLVED

1. That the report be received, and the existing policy regarding investigation of noise complaints arising from outdoor events be confirmed.

2. That outdoor events at the Sparrow's Nest, Lowestoft, be monitored during summer 2000.
