V27-1032 : MRS N BECKLY, STREET TRADING LICENCE HOLDER
The report of the Director of Housing and Environmental Services was considered as a matter of urgency, under the statutory provision accorded to the Chairman, as there would not be sufficient time to call another meeting of the Panel until the New Year. The Director of Housing and Environmental Services reminded members that the above Street Trading Licensee had been granted a Licence to sell traditional sausages in a roll on that part on London Road North between Beach Road and Suffolk Road, Lowestoft. Sales of sausages had been going well and the stall had proved very popular. Unfortunately, when being transported to Lowestoft on 3 December the stall had overturned in the strong winds and suffered serious damage which could not be repaired until January 2000. In order not to lose business over the busy Christmas and New Year period, Mrs Beckly was requesting permission to carry on trading until January by hiring a standard white trailer. She understood that this was not the traditional-looking stall that members wished to see on London Road North, but hoped members would consider her predicament and allow her to use this trailer until her own stall was repaired.
Members were sympathetic to Mrs Beckly's case, but wished to put a time limit on permission to use the standard white trailer. They also asked that Mrs Beckly do her best to make the stall as attractive as possible.
RESOLVED
That Mrs N Beckly be given permission to use a standard white trailer from which to sell traditional sausages in rolls on her pitch in London Road North, Lowestoft until her stall is repaired, subject to such permission being granted only to the end of January 2000. The meeting was concluded at 6.20pm.
