V26-992 : HOUSING DEVELOPMENT - YEOVIL ROAD ALLOTMENT SITE

The report of the Director of Housing and Environmental Services informed members that the development of 13 one and two bedroom bungalows by Orwell Housing Association at the above site would be completed early 1999. Nominations were to be made from the Joint Housing Register.

When this scheme was first put forward it was hoped that the development would prove attractive to tenants of the Roman Hill Estate as there were known to be several under- occupied family houses. To maximise the potential of releasing under-occupied family housing was recommended that priority be given to existing tenants of Roman Hill Ward.

When the bungalows were near completion Orwell Housing Association were prepared to hold an open day, inviting tenants within Roman Hill Ward, as not all under-occupiers would be registered on the Joint Housing Register.

RESOLVED

That for the first lettings of the 13 bungalows on the Yeovil Road development site, priority be given to existing tenants of Roman Hill Ward.
