V26-989 : MATERIALS RECLAMATION FACILITY - UPDATE
The report of the Director of Community Services gave an update with progress on the construction of the Materials Reclamation Facility. The building works were ahead of schedule, but the delivery date of specialised equipment ordered by Antiwaste meant the Facility would not be available until possibly the first week in April. Anitwaste had always wanted to incorporate a Household Waste Site at the Facility, and the County Council had now undertaken to consider any proposal Antiwaste might make. Officers were also looking into the possibility of establishing an Environmental Education Centre to be run in conjunction with the Facility. Funding possibilities were being investigated, and members would be kept informed on this issue.
The Community Services Committee was to consider this report at its meeting on 30 November 1998.
RESOLVED
1. That a revised completion date for the Materials Reclamation Facility of late March/early April 1998 be accepted, albeit with disappointment.
2. That Antiwaste's application to Suffolk County Council for a Household Waste site to be located at the Materials Reclamation Facility be supported.
