Council Minutes System | Licencing Panel - 28/10/98 |
V26-983 : LICENSING FEES
The report of the Chief Executive detailed a proposal to recover, as far as possible, the direct costs of the various licensing regimes operated in the Chief Executive's and Housing and Environmental Services Department. The present licensing budget provision estimated an income of £37,000 against an expenditure of £100,000.
There had been a sizeable increase in licensing fees at the last review to try and recover this discrepancy, and it was proposed to increase fees by approximately 4%, slightly above inflation, at the present review.
The Panel supported the proposed increases, but reiterated their commitment to reducing the deficit between income and expenditure, and requested a report as soon as possible after the March meeting of the Panel regarding the possibilities of increasing fees to an amount which would go towards achieving this.
RESOLVED
1. That the proposed increase in licensing fees as appended to the minutes be approved. 2. That the Chief Executive be given delegated authority to advertise the proposed increases in fees where required, to come into effect on the first renewal date of each of the licences listed or by 1 April 1999, whichever falls first.
3. That if no objections are received, the Chief Executive be given delegated authority to confirm the fees as advertised.
4. That a report be brought to the Panel after March 1999 concerning the practicalities of a further increase in licensing fees to reduce the deficit between income and expenditure.
