V26-968 : ENGLISH BASKETBALL ASSOCIATION - OUTDOOR INITIATIVE

The report of the Director of Community Services advised that the Council had successfully bid for and installed basketball facilities at eight sites in the District through the English Basketball Association's Outdoor Basketball Initiative, which was funded through the Sports Lottery. A further three sites had been agreed but not yet installed.

At a previous meeting members approved a contribution towards the creation of the post of Suffolk Basketball Development Officer. This appointment had now been made, and would be an important factor in the development of the sport in Waveney.

RESOLVED

That the development of basketball in the District be supported, and that opportunities to expand the creation of new sites be pursued as further phases of the scheme are developed.
