V26-896 : SUFFOLK RURAL LEARNING CENTRES

The report of the Chief Executive informed members that Suffolk County Council had recently been successful in a partnership bid for European Regional Development Fund financial support for the establishment of four Rural Learning Centres in the 5b area of rural East Suffolk.

The Council had agreed a contribution of £10,000 at minute V25-1164 and this would form part of the approximate funding of £210,000 for the centre in Bungay, with an overall cost of £840,000 for the four centres.

The Centres would help local communities by strengthening existing business and economic activity and encouraging and assisting new business development, providing a wide range of academic and vocational training opportunities for individuals and businesses within the locality, and developing a range of dedicated facilities to support new and existing businesses.

RESOLVED

1. That the partnership development of the Rural Learning Centre for Bungay and the role that Suffolk County Council has played in bringing this project forward be welcomed.

2. That a report on the progress of the Centre be presented to a future meeting of this Sub- Committee.
