V26-895 : COMMUNITY ENTERPRISE - `SUCCESS' FUNDING
The report of the Chief Executive considered a request from Suffolk County Council for funding for a service called `Success' which they offered to assist the development of co- operative community enterprises
Community Enterprises were shown as being of value in the community and were often more environmentally sensitive than more conventional businesses, and they could support the creation and retention of wealth within communities.
`Success' had been highly successful in it's activity so far, with a large proportion of it's work being located in the Waveney area. Suffolk County Council were requesting £2,000 per year for three years, to support this initiative.
RECOMMENDED
1. That a contribution of £2,000 per annum, for three years, be made towards the running of the `Success' initiative by Suffolk County Council, to be met from the Employment Generation Fund.
* Commitment of Forward Budget
2. That the Success Co-ordinator be invited to make a presentation in the future on activities/success of the initiative in Waveney.
