V26-893 : OBJECTIVE 5B GRANT FUNDING
The report of the Chief Executive examined the impact of the European Commission's clarification of the Objective 5b rules which effected grant schemes that were intended to operate after December 1999.
For schemes that were issued or amended after May 1997, no Objective 5b funding could be given out in a grant scheme after 1999 unless the recipient and amount of grant had been identified prior to the end of 1999.
This would reduce the funding available under 5b for the Council's Marketing Assistance and Professional Services Voucher Schemes. It also meant that it was not viable to introduce the Lowestoft Business Property Improvement Scheme, as agreed at minutes V25- 1163 and V26-683, as it would only have just over a year to run. RESOLVED
That the effect of the clarification of Objective 5b rules on the Economic Development Unit's current grant schemes and the withdrawal of the Lowestoft Business Property Improvement Scheme be noted.
