V26-891 : ENTERPRISING WOMENS NETWORK

The Chairman introduced Anne Francis, the Co-ordinator of the Norfolk and Waveney Enterprising Women's Network to the Sub-Committee. Anne gave a brief presentation on the purpose and services of the Network which offered support to self employed businesswomen in Norfolk and Waveney. These services included local monthly meetings, newsletters, and training opportunities in information technology, marketing and sales, personal and professional development and business skills.

There followed a short question and answer session.

The report of the Chief Executive considered a request by the Network seeking sponsorship for the planned introduction of services into the Waveney area. The network aimed to give support to local self employed women and were organising meetings to start in Beccles and Lowestoft from January of 1999. They were seeking sponsorship of £480 per annum towards the costs of venue hire.

RECOMMENDED

1. That a grant of £480 be awarded to the Norfolk and Waveney Enterprising Women's Network, to be met from the Employment Generation Fund.

2. That subsequent funding be considered on evidence of the initiatives successful introduction to the Waveney Area.
