V26-884 : BUS SHELTERS - WAVENEY
The report of the Director of Central Services advised that the Council entered into an agreement with Adshell for 14 years in 1984 for the provision of 30 Bus Shelters. Adshell wished to renew the agreement for a further 15 years and proposed to renew the existing shelters and provide 14 new shelters.
Having regard to the likely revenue from advertising, the capital and revenue costs involved in the operation and the uncertainty in the future of advertising methods, the Head of Valuation and Estates was of the view that it was unlikely that more favourable terms could be obtained by inviting tenders.
RECOMMENDED
1. That an agreement be entered into with Adshell for a period of 15 years from a date to be agreed for the provision of 44 bus shelters on sites within the District in return for advertising rights, subject to planning requirements being met.
2. That the decision not to tender the sites be approved as a departure from standing orders, due to the uncertainty in the future of advertising methods.
