V26-881 : PREPARING FOR THE EURO

The report of the Director of Central Services considered the implications for the Council of the introduction of the European Monetary Union and the Euro, both with and without UK participation.

RECOMMENDED

1. That the Director of Central Services be responsible for the Council's preparations for the Euro.
2. That the appointment of an Officer Working Party to oversee preparations for the Euro be reconsidered early in 2000 or sooner if a change in the UK position makes that necessary.
3. That where relevant, contracts entered into for the purchase of computer and other equipment/systems include a requirement that they will be Euro compliant within an acceptable timescale.
