V26-824 : GARDEN TO THE REAR OF HILL HOUSE, SOUTHWOLD

The report of the Director of Planning and Building Control concerned a summer house which had been erected in the garden of the above Listed Building without planning approval. The owner of the property, despite requests to do so, had not submitted a planning application, claiming that the summer house was the replacement of a previous one in the same location. An objecting neighbour confirmed that it was a replacement, but was much higher than the original and affected the outlook and view from a first floor bay window of his property.

The summer house did not, however, detract from the setting of the Listed Building, and although visible in the Conservation Area it could not be regarded as having an adverse impact upon it.

RESOLVED

That no action be taken with regard to the summer house at Hill House, Southwold.
