V26-796 : W382/20 - HIGHGROVE CLOSE MOBILE HOME PARK, OFF FIR LANE, LOWESTOFT

Application for change of use to extend existing mobile home park.

The report of the Director of Planning and Building Control advised that in 1997 an application for extension of the above site for 20 homes was refused. The site was surrounded on three sides by residential development, and was generally open grassland. A site visit had recently taken place and the application was now before members for decision.

Following a meeting at which the applicant explained the scheme in detail, there were five remaining objections and a petition concerned with increased traffic, loss of trees and loss of privacy. The Director advised that the site complied with the terms of Policy H7 and met the standards for car parking and private amenity space. Privacy between existing and proposed units would be achieved with screen fencing, and there was no objection from the Highway Authority. The scheme had been reduced from 20 to 17 units, and was much improved. He therefore recommended approval.

Members concurred with the Director's recommendation, with the condition that any trees removed must be replaced elsewhere on the site, and that landscaping should be provided to shield the site from existing houses.

RESOLVED

That planning permission be granted to application W382/20, subject to the replacement of any trees removed and landscaping to shield the new site from existing houses.
