V26-793 : W14061/1 - SITE OFF PRIORY LANE, BUNGAY
Application for residential development.
The report of the Director of Planning and Building Control advised that the above site was of great importance in the heart of Bungay, within the area of the former castle. The principle of suitable residential development on the site was set out in the Local Plan, and the County Archaeologist had confirmed that the site could be developed without undue harm to its historic value.
However, the detailed scheme needed amendment to minimise its impact on neighbours and present a frontage reflecting the historic quality of the site. The Town Council objected to the application, preferring a single storey, lower density development more in keeping with the area. There had been five neighbour objections concerned with poor access, shadowing of neighbouring houses and overdevelopment. The Director recommended deferral for a site visit.
RESOLVED
That a site visit be held at the location of application W14061/1.
