V26-771 : WARDEN MORNING CONTACT ROUND PROCEDURES
The report of the Director of Housing and Environmental Services alerted members to a dilemma concerning the above. For many years Sheltered Housing tenants had developed special signs to indicate to a Warden that they were well and had gone out. Such an ad hoc system had inherent dangers and was stopped when the Department became aware of it. A system devised to take its place, where the residents who did not want the Warden to check their dwelling when they were out could leave a timed signed and dated note, was also proving unsatisfactory due to non-uniformity in Wardens checking and retaining the notes. The Department would prefer all dwellings to be checked, but understood residents concerns at invasion of privacy.
RESOLVED
That revision of the procedure for the Warden morning contact round be deferred for further discussion.
