V26-770 : HEALTH PROMOTION - SKIN CANCER IN WAVENEY
The report of the Director of Housing and Environmental Services updated members on the latest information regarding the problems of cancer and what action officers were taking to raise public awareness, following Suffolk Health Authority's comments on the incidence of skin cancer in the district. A pack of information leaflets was distributed to each member. Councillors were quick to praise the Environmental Services Division's foresight, not only for the recent pro-active press release, but as the publications had been available before the Director of Public Health's message. Members suggested that the actions be followed up with the likes of notice boards on the sea front and similar messages in all Council promotional and holiday literature.
RESOLVED
That the Environmental Services Division be congratulated for their pro-active approach to the concerns of skin cancer, and support be given to an increased and on-going awareness campaign in the future.
