V26-77 : IMPROVING ARRANGEMENTS FOR THE DELIVERY OF LOCAL PLANS

The report of the Director of Planning and Building Control outlined the main content of the DETR's paper `Modernising Planning' which re-iterated concern about the lack of progress in achieving nation-wide coverage of local plans. The paper sought views on proposed changes to the development plan system in order to help make the process more efficient and closely followed proposals in the DoE Consultation Paper issued in January 1997 on options for speeding up the delivery of local plans.

RESOLVED

That the comments as set out in the report of the Director of Planning and Building Control be forwarded to the Department of Environment, Transport and the Regions, as Waveney's response to the consultation paper on improving the arrangements for the delivery of local plans.
