V26-768 : AUTHORISED OFFICERS - CONTINGENCY ARRANGEMENTS
The report of the Director of Housing and Environmental Services alerted members to a recently published report into the investigation of the E-Coli 0157 food poisoning outbreak in Lanarkshire. In order for swift response to any similar occasion locally, the Suffolk Chief Environmental Health Officers' Co-ordinating Group had agreed to introduce reciprocal contingency arrangements enabling staff from one Council to be temporarily assigned to another. Minute V23/192-22 detailed the statutes that any such temporary staff would work under.
RESOLVED
That, in accordance with minute V23/192-22 and Section 101 of the Local Government Act 1972, the Director of Housing and Environmental Services and the Head of Environmental Services be given delegated authority to authorise temporary suitable officers of other District or Borough Councils to exercise powers of entry and other enforcement as detailed in the statutes and statutory instruments enforced by the Housing and Environmental Services Department.
