V26-754 : IMPROVEMENTS TO VOID PROPERTIES
The report of the Director of Housing and Environmental Services related to the two previous items, and proposed that a sum of £150k be allocated from the existing budget to undertake improvements to the housing stock.
It was intended that improvements would include kitchen refurbishments, internal enhancements, and decoration of selected properties found to be in such a condition that they prove difficult to let. Members were advised that these improvements could result in a temporary increase in the properties void period. The Director envisaged that a much greater percentage of the money was to be spent on the kitchen refurbishments than the voids redecoration.
Members welcomed the initiative with suggestions that the WC/bathroom and then kitchens be the priority in the voids redecorations, and that any ageing electrical sockets/wiring also be a priority for the improvements.
RESOLVED
That a sum of £150,000 be allocated from existing budgets to enable selective improvements to the housing stock and void properties to take place.
