V26-743 : ANGLIA IN BLOOM RESULTS
The report of the Director of Community services set out the results of the second year that Lowestoft had entered the Anglia in Bloom competition.
Lowestoft was placed third in the Best Large Town category behind Bury St. Edmunds, the winner, and Harpenden. Lowestoft was also third for the Best Conservation Project, for the work that the Bonds Meadow management group carried out. Elm Tree Middle School's environmental project and Nicholas Everitt Park also gained special mention. Following this success, members were requested to give continued positive support by offering a further £2,000 to allow Lowestoft in Bloom to continue their work on improving Lowestoft. Bungay were also well placed in the best small town category of the Anglia in Bloom competition, coming in third place, and members were requested to continue their support of Bungay's Leisure and Tourism group for their In Bloom organisation with the same level of financial support as was given in 1997.
RESOLVED
1. That the Lowestoft in Bloom Committee be offered £2,000 to continue its work to improve Lowestoft and its community, to be met from within existing budgets. 2. That Bungay's Tourism and Leisure Committee be offered £300 for its work next year, to be met from within existing budgets.
