V26-740 : SOUTHWOLD HARBOUR
The report of the Director of Community Services advised that a recent review of the structural condition of Southwold Harbour's north wall had predicted a remaining structural life of five years if no intervention works took place.
Officers would assess what short term, low cost alleviation works should be carried out to marginally extend the life of the wall. However, in the longer term major reconstruction works to stabilise or replace the wall would be inevitable. These would have a serious implication for the capital budget as certain operations could cost in excess of £1m. The Director had set up a project team to look into the potential for external contributions towards the funding of this major scheme. The team would then prepare a project appraisal for consideration and submission to the Capital Programme Monitoring Group. RESOLVED
1. That the establishment of a Project Team to explore the potential for gaining external funding towards future major works at Southwold Harbour be noted.
2. That the Project Team recommend short term alleviation measures which may be taken to extend the life of the Southwold Harbour north wall.
