V26-739 : LOWESTOFT SEAFRONT AIR FESTIVAL 1998
The report of the Director of Community Services gave a full account of the outcome of the 1998 Lowestoft Sea Front Air Festival and detailed the review and financing of the event. It also reported on the lessons learned from this year's event in order to build a better festival for 1999 and the year 2000. It explained the improvements, including management improvements, that would be actioned in order to achieve these goals. The report also confirmed the dates for the 1999 festival and requested a budget for the event. The report proposed the creation of the posts of Air Festival Administrator and Air Display Co-ordinator to improve the Management of 1999 and 2000 Festivals. It suggested that the Personnel Resources Sub-Committee be requested to recommend the creation of the posts, which would be funded using the European 5b grant obtained for each year. Finally the Director reported the resignation of Mr Bernard Bagge, who had again this year taken on the major role of Air Display Director, and members requested that a letter of thanks be sent to him for his work over the last two years.
RESOLVED
1. That the dates for the 1999 Lowestoft Sea Front Air Festival be confirmed as Thursday, 29 and Friday, 30 July 1999.
2. That a budget commitment of £10,000 be allocated to the 1999 Lowestoft Sea Front Air Festival

3. That a letter be sent to Mr Bernard Bagge thanking him for his hard work as Air Display Co-ordinator for the past two Festivals.
4. That the Personnel Resources Sub-Committee be requested to recommend the creation of the posts of Air Display Co-ordinator and Air Festival Administrator, on two year fixed term contracts, to be funded from the 5B grant obtained for each year.
