V26-734 : REMOVAL OF TAXI STANDS

The report of the Director of Community Services reminded members that at minute V25- 1046 approval was granted for consultations in respect of removal of taxi ranks in The Marina and Regent Road. The report included a summary of objections.

Members expressed concerns at the length of time taken to address the problem of low usage of the ranks, borne out by CCTV surveillance. The Chief Executive confirmed that the timescale was due to the statutory obligation for advertising, consulting and re-advertising any changes to any Order(s).

RESOLVED

1. That the order for the removal of taxi stands in Regent Road to be relaxed to retain three of the five stands.

2. That the removal of two taxi stands in Regent Road be confirmed, to be replaced by short term, 30 minute, parking.

3. That the removal of the taxi stand in The Marina be confirmed, to be replaced by a disabled parking bay.

4. That the Chief Executive be authorised to make the amended Traffic Regulation Orders.
