V26-726 : RESIDENTS PARKING - BECCLES

The report of the Director of Community Services presented the results of a survey of residents in Beccles, which confirmed there was sufficient support for a resident's parking scheme to be undertaken. The scheme had been refined by a formal consultation exercise and it was proposed that the scheme be introduced for an experimental period of 18 months.

The Director informed members that the results had led to the proposed scheme being street specific instead of zoned. One extra comment from residents of Caxton Road who parked in Queen's Road was added to the report.

RESOLVED

1. That a resident's parking scheme in Beccles, based on the principles agreed by the Working Group, in seven streets for an experimental period of 18 months, be approved.

2. That the Director of Community Services liaise with Suffolk County Council on the provision of some limited waiting for customer parking in Denmark Road; and the Traffic Regulation Order being promoted by Suffolk County Council, be supported.

3. That the residents' parking bay in Gresham Road be extended to cover all the residential properties in Gresham Road.

4. That Personnel Resources Sub-Committee be recommended to appoint a full-time Resident's Parking Inspector for a period of 18 months to cover the period of the experimental scheme.

5. That an increase in annual revenue cost of approximately £5,500 to implement a resident's parking scheme in Beccles be approved.

*No Budget Provision.
