V26-725 : CONSULTATIONS TO THE GOSFORD ROAD, BECCLES

REVISED DRAFT DEVELOPMENT BRIEF

The report of the Director of Planning and Building Control set out comments received following the consultation exercise on the above. Key issues on design and land use principles; consideration to the wider area and the need for rail freight; transport interchange; car parking; access points; and cycleways and footpaths were addressed.

The Director felt the fundamental issue of the transport interchange was now dealt with properly, and the moving of the access south and a one-way scheme was far better than the previous criss-crossing of routes. With the changes and relaxations at paragraph 5.1 of the report, the brief also now allowed developer's proposals to be judged as architecture on merit.

RESOLVED

1. That the consultation responses be noted and several minor changes be made to improve the clarity of the Gosford Road, Beccles - Revised Draft Development Brief, to provide more justification to some proposals, in line with recent Government advice.

2. That the changes outlined at paragraph 5.1 be approved, and the amended Gosford Road, Beccles - Revised Development Brief be approved as Supplementary Planning Guidance.
