V26-688 : SPRINGBOARD 2000 PROJECT

The report of the Chief Executive provided details of a local initiative entitled Springboard 2000 which had just been launched by Suffolk Careers Service in partnership with local organisations including the Council. The initiative was aimed at encouraging more people to start their own business, the project provided a professionally produced video and booklet pack. The video and booklet pointed to the many sources of advice available to entrepreneurs locally.

The project was part funded by objective 5B, and the Council's contribution included officer time and the use of Council premises for filming and launch. The video focused on local towns including Bungay and Halesworth and included Waveney businesses and Council staff giving their views on the challenge and risks of starting a business. A copy of the video was available for members' personal viewing.
