V26-682 : ECONOMIC PROJECTS OFFICER FOR RURAL SUFFOLK

The report of the Chief Executive considered the continuation of funding for the Economic Project Officer for the rural Objective 5b and Rural Development Area of Suffolk, which was supported by the Council for three years at minute V22-579/11.
The Economic Project Officer was employed directly by Suffolk County Council and was funded by a partnership of Suffolk local authorities, Suffolk TEC and the Rural Development Commission, with additional Objective 5b funding. The current funding would end in January 1999 and Suffolk County Council had requested that the partnership continue to fund this post for a further three years.

RECOMMENDED

1. That the Council continues to part-fund the post of Economic Projects Officer for rural Suffolk for a further three years at the current level of £3,500 per annum, to be met from the Promotions and Initiatives budget.

2. That the Economic Projects Officer for rural Suffolk be invited to speak at a future meeting of this Sub-Committee.
