V26-672 : VILLAGE SHOP RATE RELIEF SCHEME
The report of the Director of Central Services provided a schedule of applications for members' determination under the Village Shop Rate Relief Scheme. In accordance with the policy for the Scheme, as set out at minute V25-1431, the applications would be dealt with by officers. However, input from the Sub-Committee was required at the outset of the Scheme to provide officers with guidance on how members would like them to act in various cases. (Para. 5)
RECOMMENDED
1. That Discretionary Rural Rate Relief of 50% be granted for a Post Office and Store which met the criteria for Mandatory Relief except rateable value.
2. That no Discretionary Rate Relief be granted for three small businesses where there was not sufficient benefit to the community.
3. That Mandatory Rate Relief but no Discretionary Relief be granted for a Post Office operating within another building for minimal opening hours.
4. That six properties described as a Post or Store which receive Mandatory Rate Relief be granted 50% Discretionary Rate Relief.
5. That 25% Discretionary Rate Relief be granted for a Village Public House which has significant benefit to the community.
6. That properties described as a Post Office or Store which receive Mandatory Relief be granted 50% Discretionary Relief under the Village Rural Rate Relief Scheme. *Policy Decision
