Application for first floor side extension.
The report of the Director of Planning and Building Control concerned a proposal to erect a first floor extension over part of the garage of the above detached 3 bedroomed dwelling. The extension would extend out from the main house by 4.1m, and the roof line would be considerably lower than the main house.
The only likely adverse effect the proposal could have in terms of neighbour amenity was the possible loss of early morning/late afternoon sunlight to the neighbour, however this was not serious enough to conflict with Local Plan policy. However, the proportions of the buildings in this modern estate gave it a pseudo-Georgian character, and the Director felt the proposal would upset the integrity of the design of the estate, and recommended refusal. Members, however, felt that being out of character in an estate of very similar houses was a factor to recommend the extension. They were therefore minded to approve the application. RESOLVED
That planning permission be granted to application W17118.
