V26-60 : TAXI AND PRIVATE HIRE DRIVERS BADGES

The report of the Chief Executive proposed the introduction of a new distinctive taxi and private drivers badge as part of the Premier Driver Scheme. The Scheme was going well with the first course scheduled for 6 April. The new badge would be issued to all drivers who took the one day customer care course so they can be clearly identified by the public.

The first badge would be issued free to each driver completing the course, with a refundable deposit of £5 being taken for each badge issued.

RESOLVED

1. That the proposed new badge to be issued to those private hire and taxi drivers who wish to attend the Customer Care course be approved.

2. That the first badge be issued free and a returnable deposit of £5 be taken in order that a new badge may immediately be issued in the event of loss.

3. That the Chief Executive be given authority to alter the driver conditions accordingly.
