V26-59 : HACKNEY CARRIAGE TABLE OF FARES

The report of the Chief Executive set out the current Hackney Carriage Fare table for the District, together with suggestions received by proprietors for possible increases in fares. A petition signed by 13 drivers supporting the proposals of A. Roberts outlined in the report was formally received.

Having taken into account the representations made by the trade the Chief Executive recommended a suggested fare table. The new table if agreed would then be given statutory notice to allow objections to be made.

It was also accepted that as a matter of course the Panel would review the fare table each year at its October meeting.

RESOLVED

1. That the Chief Executive be given authority to advertise the proposed tariff changes and if no objection received be given delegated authority to approve its adoption:

Tariff 1
£1.80
For the first 1760 yards (1.61km) or 8 minutes 30 seconds or
part thereof or a combination of parts of such distance and
time.

£0.10
For each subsequent 120 yards (109.72m) or 40 seconds or a
combination of parts of such distance and time.

Tariff 2
£2.20
For the first 1760 yards (1.61km) or 7 minutes 25 seconds or
part thereof or a combination of parts of such distance and
time.

£0.10
For each subsequent 90 yards (82.29m) or 25 seconds or part
thereof or a combination of parts of such distance and time.

Extra
Charges
£0.20
Additional passengers - each additional passenger in excess of
two (excluding infants in arms) (2 children under 10 years
count as one person).

£0.30
Luggage - for use of the luggage compartment (no restriction on
number of items).

Tariff 2

Nights, Sundays and Public Holidays.
For any hiring commenced between the following periods:
Monday to Friday 11pm to 7am and between 11pm Saturday to
7am Monday, Good Friday, Easter Monday, Whit Monday,
August Bank Holiday, May Day and after 6am New Years Day.

Christmas and New Year.
For hirings between 8pm 24 December and 6am 27 December.
For hirings between 8pm 31 December and 6am 1 January.

2. That a charge of £25 be shown at the bottom of the taxi fare chart for the soiling of a taxi.
