V26-521 : HOUSING REPAIRS OUT-TURN 1997/1998
The report of the Director of Central Services summarised the out-turn figures for repairs and maintenance in comparison with the approved budget. Figures showed an underspend of £225k which would be added to the Housing Repairs Fund balance at 31 March 1998 and taken into account when determining the revised budget for 1998/99 and budget for 1999/2000.
Members asked that consideration be given to the use of spare capital to assist with improvements to void properties, as their quicker turn round and letting would indeed generate rent.
A discussion ensued on the current levels of redecoration vouchers. The Director would ensure that tenants knew the maximum level was £250, not £150 as identified on some leaflets. Individual cases where possibly more was required would be looked into, and where identified, the tenant given extra assistance.
RESOLVED
That the reported Housing Repairs out-turn figures be approved, and the use of the Repairs Fund balance be reviewed as part of the 1999/2000 Housing Revenue Account budget process.
