V26-514 : LEISURE REVENUE GRANT - NIC ASHER
The report of the Director of Community Services concerned a request for grant support on behalf of Nic Asher, Lowestoft's Junior International Dinghy Sailor. Nic was adjudged Waveney's Junior Sportsman of the year in 1997, and last year he represented Great Britain in the European Championships. This year he had qualified to represent Great Britain in the World Optomist Sailing Championships as one of five sailors in the team. Under the Council's grant criteria awards for individuals were only considered for those who competed at international standard or the equivalent. Nic Asher clearly met this standard, and it was proposed that a grant of £250 be made available from the unallocated part of the Leisure Revenue Grants Budget to the applicant.
RESOLVED
That a Leisure Revenue Grant of £250 be paid towards the cost of Nic Asher's competition at the World Optomist Sailing Championships.
