V26-502 : A NEW DEAL FOR TRANSPORT - BETTER FOR EVERYONE
A NEW DEAL FOR TRUNK ROADS IN ENGLAND GOVERNMENT WHITE PAPERS
The two reports of the Director of Community Services on the above Government White Papers were considered as one item as the initiatives contained within would have direct effects on each other.
The Director outlined the main outputs of the strategic review of the trunk road programme in "A New Deal for Trunk Roads", and key points from "A New Deal for Transport : Better for Everyone". Both reports also drew attention to the proposed de-trunking of the A12 between Lowestoft and Ipswich.
The Chairman informed members that the Papers would be top of the agenda for discussion at the next Policy Group, and would form part of the discussions at forthcoming officer and member meetings of the Lowestoft Partnership. The Chief Executive and Director of Community Services updated members on positive responses in progress to the re- introduction of railfreight to Lowestoft by English, Welsh and Scottish. RESOLVED
That the content of the Government White Papers on Transport and Trunk Roads be noted, and form the basis for discussions at Policy Group and the Lowestoft Partnership.
