V26-496 : GENERAL EMERGENCY FUND - GRANT APPLICATION
The report of the Director of Central Services outlined an application for assistance from the General Emergency Fund, which helped people in need in an emergency in the former Borough of Lowestoft area.
The application was from a family who were moving from private rented accommodation into a Council House and were on welfare benefits, including incapacity benefit, invalid care allowance, mobility allowances and retirement pension.
The Director had consulted with the Chairman and it was agreed to offer a grant not exceeding £100 towards a second hand cooker and the plumbing costs for a washing machine. Assistance with carpets was not considered to be an emergency and was refused. RESOLVED
That the action of the Director of Central Services, in consultation with the Chairman, in offering assistance of up to £100 from the General Emergency Fund towards the provision of cooking and washing facilities be confirmed.
The meeting was concluded at 7.15pm.
