V26-436 : 8 ELMS LANE, WANGFORD - UNAUTHORISED BUSINESS ACTIVITY
The report of the Director of Planning and Building Control advised that the occupant of the above was operating a fish and chip business from this residential property. Complaints had been received concerning frying in the vans outside the premises, and that the vans were being cleaned outside the property after use. Employees were also parking their vehicles around the property whilst the vans were being used.
Environmental Health Officers were satisfied that no breaches of environmental health regulations were occurring, however the neighbours were still concerned over fish smells, storage of gas bottles and employee parking. The operator of the business had been requested to cease the activity, to no avail.
The Chief Executive advised that, since the business had been established for a number of years, the owner could be immune from action. The status of the layby used was also unclear, and the Chief Executive recommended deferral of the matter for investigation into these matters.
RESOLVED
That consideration of the unauthorised business activity at 8 Elms Lane, Wangford be deferred for further investigation.
