V26-413 : W17081 - EX PRINT WORKS, WALTON ROAD, LOWESTOFT

Application for change of use to retail and storage of pine furniture and erection of 1.8m boundary fence.

The Director of Planning and Building Control reported that the above site was within a busy part of Lowestoft and had been taken over by an existing reproduction furniture business who now wished to add a retail element to the business. The Director felt that the business would be unlikely to attract a large number of customers at any one time and had good parking on site, but recommended the provision of a turning area for delivery vehicles.

The neighbour had objected to the security fence around the site which came to just outside his front door. The Director felt that the fence could be started at the corner of his building and splayed back to reduce the impact. Subject to the turning area, fencing changes and permission for the proposed use only, the Director recommended approval.

RESOLVED

That planning permission be granted to application W17081 subject to retail sale of pine furniture only, provision of a turning area for delivery vehicles and relocation of the security fence.
