Application to construct a detached dwelling.

The Director of Planning and Building Control reported that this property was the first on the east side of The Street to be seen when entering the village, and any new property would take on this role. Consequently, any development would need to be of sensitive design, and the proposal was inappropriate to the village setting. The property would be hidden from neighbours for much of the year, although it would stand 20m from the applicant's house, compared to the Suffolk Development Guide suggestion of 35m. Much of the rear garden would also be turning space.

The Director felt that the design of the proposed dwelling would be out of character of the village and advised that permission for the plans as they stood could not be recommended.

RESOLVED

That planning permission be refused to application W13547/1.
