Outline application for construction of a non food retail warehouse with associated facilities and car parking.

The report of the Director of Planning and Building Control advised that this site had been given outline permission for non-food retail warehousing in 1989, and for the Safeway supermarket in 1990. Permission for non-food retail warehousing had also been granted in March 1994, but this had expired in March 1996. The current application was an enlargement of the lapsed application, although as an edge of town retail proposal this now conflicted with Government and local policies.

The Director felt that the site should now logically form part of the Industrial Estate and recommended refusal.

RESOLVED

That planning permission be refused to application W14202/10.
