V26-386 : PUBLIC ENTERTAINMENT LICENCE NO 62

KINGS HOTEL, BUNGAY

The report of the Chief Executive reminded members that minute V25-1602 granted a renewal of the Public Entertainment Licence for the above to 30 June 1998. This was to allow monitoring to be undertaken following objections from the Director of Housing and Environmental Services to the renewal of the Licence because of noise complaints during 1997.

The applicant had been advised that an extension of this period would be subject to reduction of noise nuisance from the licensed premises.

On Sunday 31 May 1998 the activity in the Oddfellows Bar had allegedly caused a nuisance between the hours of 11am and 4.30pm. This was the first complaint of noise nuisance from the premises this year, however it was believed that this particular area of the premises had not been used whilst monitoring was taking place. Therefore, the Director of Housing and Environmental Services recommended that the Licence be issued for a further restricted period, until 30 September 1998. Monitoring would continue during this time.

RESOLVED

That the Public Entertainment Licence for the Kings Hotel, Bungay be issued to expire on 30 September 1998 to allow further monitoring to take place.
