V26-333 : KIRKLEY BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT AND VISITOR PROMOTION
The report of the Director of Planning and Building Control, Chief Executive and Director of Community Services outlined a proposal to bid for European funding to undertake environmental enhancement works and marketing initiatives to promote visitor numbers in the commercial section of Kirkley Ward of Lowestoft.
The main aim of the works was to channel visitors towards the Kirkley shopping area, particularly from the seafront, and would involve signing and physical improvements. The main carriageway would be narrowed to make it easier to cross, and the visual link would b improved to guide the eye to the shopping area through newly created gateways on existing through roads.
RESOLVED
That submission of a 5b bid for Business Development and Visitor Promotion in Kirkley using existing budgets as described in the report of the Director of Planning and Building Control, Chief Executive and Director of Community Services, be approved. (Councillors Francis and Young declared an interest in the above item and left the room during the debate).
